Experience as Arbitrator and/or Counsel in Arbitrations
Sagheh Saatchi joined Norton Rose LLP in 2004. She is an energy lawyer in the Energy Projects Group specialising in the oil and gas industry. She has worked on many upstream and downstream transactions in the Middle East and Africa. She has particular expertise in relation to projects in Iran. She previously worked for the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) as a senior legal advisor. She provided legal advice to NIOC on buy-back, LNG and GTL projects as well as various contracts related to the oil and gas industry including oil and gas sales agreements. She also advised NIOC Exploration Directorate on the drafting of the model Exploration and Development Service Contract which replaced the exploration contracts used by NIOC prior to 2004 for exploration of its oil and gas fields. Whilst at NIOC she prepared the legal arguments and presented the claims of Iranian oil companies against Iraq before the United Nations Compensation Commission tribunal in Geneva (2001). Sagheh Saatchi has been involved in a number of international litigations and has recently assisted in relation to arbitration proceedings concerning an airline in the Middle East. Sagheh Saatchi also has extensive experience advising foreign investors in relation to a broad range of investments in Iran. She has been involved in major pathfinder projects in industries and sectors recently opened to foreign investment in Iran including power BOT projects, upstream and downstream oil and gas projects, mining projects, privatisation of significant government assets including power plants, Euro Bond, financing (project financing, Islamic financing, export financing, etc), banking, private investment funds, government guarantees, shipping and telecommunications.

Contributed to a number of Norton Rose LLP Publications including the Iranian section of the Middle East arbitration manual and the Iran Energy Report.
